Romance in the South Seas with Paul Gauguin Cruises

February 19, 2019

Take your sweetie to Tahiti! We offer the perfect setting for romance, honeymoons, anniversaries, and unique celebrations aboard the award-winning, 332-guest m/s Paul Gauguin.

Savor the beauty of the destinations that The Gauguin sails to from the privacy of a well-appointed suite or stateroom, explore enchanting places together, dine al fresco under a starry sky, and dance the night away.

During the day, explore the islands on a variety of optional land and sea excursions. Snorkel or SCUBA dive in turquoise lagoons, ride an ATV or bike to scenic viewpoints, learn about the history and culture of Polynesia on guided hikes, or see how Tahitian pearls are cultivated. Glide over water on a paddleboard or kayak from the ship’s marina in select ports and destination beaches. Or, relax on chaise lounge at the pool with a delicious cocktail.

One of the pleasures of The Gauguin experience is spending time at the Deep Nature Spa by Algotherm. Expert therapists and aestheticians offer an extensive menu of massages, skin care, facials, and authentic Polynesian treatments including Bora Bora Deep Blue Massages, Black Sand Body Scrubs, and Monoï Tradition Massages by Hei Poa, among a variety of other signature therapies and tropical treats.

In the evening, enjoy a culinary adventure at one of the ship’s three dining venues. The main restaurant, L’Etoile, offers an array of tempting specialties, expertly prepared each evening. La Veranda highlights the imaginative creations of Parisian celebrity chef Jean-Pierre Vigato. And Polynesian specialties are served poolside, under the stars at the Le Grill. Or dine in privacy. Surprise your love with a romantic dinner delivered to your stateroom; room service is complimentary.

When the sun goes down at sea, the ship’s Le Grand Salon comes alive with spectacular performances, from Les Gauguines and Les Gauguines—The Gauguin’s troupe of Tahitian entertainers—to magicians and musicians, including local Tahitian dance groups. Late night, venture to the La Palette Lounge to grab a nightcap and dance to live music.

Commemorate a wedding anniversary or honeymoon at a unique Polynesian blessing ceremony performed by Les Gauguines and Les Gauguins and hosted by the Cruise Director aboard the ship in Bora Bora. A traditional blessing is read aloud, then the happy couples enjoy a toast, before each couple is wrapped in a tifaifai (Tahitian wedding blanket) as a symbol of their love.

In Bora Bora, aboard the m/s Paul Gauguin, a couple gets wrapped in a tifaifai by Les Gauguines and Les Gauguins during the Polynesian Blessing cermony.

In addition to the Polynesian blessing, honeymooners aboard The Gauguin receive a complimentary Honeymoon Package that also includes an in-stateroom celebratory bottle of Champagne and an 8" x 10" photo portrait. Gift registries for honeymoons and other special occasions are also offered.

Couples sailing on The Gauguin have the opportunity to celebrate their love in a romantic setting amid the lagoons and exotic islands of French Polynesia. Paul Gauguin Cruises offers wedding ceremony* and renewal of vows packages at Motu Mahana, the cruise line’s private islet off the coast of Taha’a, or in the glass-bottom overwater chapel at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa.

There simply is not a more romantic place for a new beginning or personal milestone than aboard The Gauguin, and we are renowned for the extra touches and attention to detail that make every occasion special.
