Paul Gauguin Cruises is pleased to announce that the most expansive refurbishment in the m/s Paul Gauguin’s history, featuring luxurious enhancements and environmental advancements, that will take place during the ship’s May 2020 drydock.

“The vision of the renovation is to enhance The Gauguin’s elegant Polynesian signature with a chic and modern style to enrich our guests’ experience sailing the islands of Tahiti, French Polynesia, and the South Pacific,” said Diane Moore, Chief Executive Officer, Paul Gauguin Cruises. “The heart of the project will be the significant environmental upgrades that will take place which will allow us to continue to support sustainable tourism.”

Large Environmental Upgrades in line with Paul Gauguin Cruises’ Values

Minimizing the impact on the environment is one of the highest priorities of the company. In 2019, Paul Gauguin Cruises took two major measures in this field. The line completely eliminated the use of heavy fuel oil by using a much cleaner fuel (LS MGO – Low-Sulphur Marine Gas Oil) and to offset 150 percent of its carbon emissions. The Gauguin’s environmental upgrades follow this path which also includes water treatment and consumption optimization along with energy-saving initiatives.

An Empowering Experience Dedicated to Guests’ Highest Expectations

The Gauguin will be outfitted with a look designed by Studio Jean-Philippe Nuel that evokes South Seas elegance and the storied islands that the iconic ship sails. The design palette incorporates shades of blue, taupe, green, and pearl, with complementary warm wood finishes, woven textiles, Polynesian motifs, and stylish gold accents. All The Gauguin’s staterooms and suites as well as the public spaces will be renovated: Le Grand Salon, three restaurants, Piano Bar, La Palette Lounge, Spa and Salon, Fitness Center, Boutique, Pool Deck, and Reception area. New additions to Deck 5 will be a Tahitian pearl jewelry boutique by Hinerava, one of Tahiti’s leading jewelers, and a photo booth.
